Blank’s article highlights 3 ways Orangetheory has taken fitness from “dreaded chore” to “amusing game.”

 
1.  Orangetheory Fitness makes working out a game.

The heart-rate monitoring component of the workout shows your results on TV screens throughout the studio. This means you can keep an eye not only on how hard you’re pushing yourself during the workout—but how others are doing as well.

Spring cleaning isn’t just for your closet. Orangetheory Fitness Franklin shares this year’s Spring cleaning checklist to help remove the “clutter” from your fitness routine and get you back on track.


Spring is right around the corner, and you know what that means: Spring cleaning! Along with that old blazer with the shoulder pads that is just never going to come back into style, it’s also time to Spring clean your fitness routine. Winter is a time when many of us slip from our healthy habits, but Spring is a chance for a fresh start!

Although we can’t help you clean out your closet, here are a few tips on how to clean up your act for a healthier, happier, and oranger life! So grab your pen and get ready to start checking things off your list, because we are going to burn through this spring cleaning the Orangetheory Fitness way!

 Toss out those old running shoes.

Running shoes should be replaced anywhere from 300 to 500 miles after the first wear. When you’re going ALL OUT at Orangetheory Fitness Franklin, your focus should be on the workout and how the exercises make your body feel—not the pain or discomfort you’re suffering from a worn-out pair of sneakers. Apply this “to-do” to your other fitness gear as well. If it hurts or makes you uncomfortable, it’s not worth the wear and will ultimately distract you from your workout.

Step 1:

Set new goals and compete with yourself. Keep a close eye on those splat stats as you push yourself in the Orange Zone and you’ll start beating your personal best in no time. Instead of wasting time comparing yourself to others, focus on being a better you every single day.

Step 2:

Treat yourself to some new workout threads! This is the perfect Valentine’s Day gift to help motivate you and keep you focused on your physical goals. We’re not saying it has to be OTF gear, but we do think you look awesome in orange! ;)

Step 3:

Try a new healthy recipe. Cooking is another way to feel accomplished, especially if you’ve learned how to prepare a new dish—and healthy, guilt-free eating will help you feel good about yourself. You can also spice things up in the kitchen by trying a different, healthy spin on a dish you’ve already learned how to prepare.

Step 4:

Get serious about your sleep routine. Sometimes we get so caught up in our busy lives that we forget how important that REM time really is. Sleep deprivation can cause weight gain and lead to chronic health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Give your fitness journey a head start every day by getting enough sleep.

Step 5:

Seek balance. Trust us, we get that you’re busy! But all work and no play is no way to live. 10 Times Erin Andrews Crushed It in 2016

Erin Andrews—professional sportscaster, Dancing with the Stars celebrity, and our newest Orangetheory Fitness fit fam member—crushed it in 2016 and will continue burning to motivate us through 2017.

It’s that time of the year again—when we look back on how quickly the past year flew by and reflect on our fitness and health journeys.

Our new Orangetheory fit fam member, Erin Andrews, is a reminder to us all to live up to our potential. Erin Andrews is a butt-kicking gal on the go with an impeccable sense of fashion and a health regimen that would put most athletes to shame. A professional sportscaster and TV personality, the University of Florida grad is best known for her work with ESPN, Fox Sports, and ABC’s Dancing with The Stars. You may also recognize her from her cameo in the movie What to Expect When You’re Expecting.

Erin is living proof that a woman on the go can stay focused on her health and fitness. We are so proud to offer her a nationwide fitness family she can visit in almost every state she travels to for work.

As we begin to burn toward our goals for 2017, we draw inspiration from this fitness icon, who burned beautifully through 2016.

Hell Week at Orangetheory Fitness Franklin is “Scary Good” for Your Health

We’re taking a look at some motivating fitness stats and stories for Breast Cancer Awareness and Mental Health Awareness month as we get ready for a week of intense workouts at our Orangetheory studio in Franklin, TN.

Hey Franklin, getting scared? Hell Week is just around the corner. Starting October 24 and leading right up to Halloween, we’ve got a week’s worth of tricky workouts lined up for you, with fun themes like “Death Row.” Which brings us to everyone’s favorite Halloween question: Trick or Treat?

October is both Breast Cancer Awareness and Mental Health Awareness month—so it’s an important time to remember just how important your Orangetheory workouts are for your health. Hell Week workouts might make it seem like the trainers here at Orangetheory Fitness Franklin are playing a trick on you (mwa-ha-haaaa!!), but we’re actually treating you to the perfect excuse to get in here more often, step up your fitness game, and do something really good for your body.

Burn for Health

We’ve been listening to your goals and loving the “What Do You Burn For?” memes you’ve been sharing on Facebook and Instagram. Some of our favorites:

From weight loss and guilt-free eating to happiness, confidence, and endurance, all of the fitness motives shared across Orangetheory Nation tie into one broader goal: health. One of Orangetheory’s main objectives is to improve the overall health and welfare of as many people as possible.

It’s not rocket science; everyone knows there’s a correlation between fitness and health. But let’s dig into some facts and figures about breast cancer and mental health that may just help give you that extra push off the couch and into the Orange Zone.

Burn for Breast Cancer Treatment and Prevention

Our hearts go out to everyone who has been effected by breast cancer—whether you are a patient, survivor, or know someone going through treatment. We burn for you!

Some stats from Breastcancer.org and the American Cancer Society:
  • Exercise can reduce both the risk and recurrence of breast cancer.
  • At least 150 minutes of exercise a week is recommended to lower overall risk of cancer.
  • Losing 5 to 10 percent of body weight can reduce a woman’s risk of breast cancer.
  • Breast cancer survivors who exercise at least 150 minutes a week are 25% less likely to experience severe complications.
We’ve heard inspiring stories of Orangetheory members who consult with their doctors and continue working out with us through treatment, or others who have gone on to found non-profit organizations that provide women with access to the best treatment options, medicine, and technology. Burn for Mental Health

A Washington Post article highlights a wide range of health benefits linked to Orangetheory’s high-intensity interval training, including the psychological benefits of a varied workout. And as a member you also already know how good it feels to see your stats on the monitor as you push and go all out—not to mention that positive vibe we get from seeing and being with our OTF Franklin Fit Fam.

  • Aerobic exercises have been shown to reduce anxiety and depression.
  • Exercise leads to improved sleep, stress relief, improvement in mood, reduced tiredness, and increased alertness.
  • 30 minutes of exercise of more increases chemicals in the brain that help us relax, like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine.
  • Working out alters blood flow to areas in the brain that would otherwise trigger us to repeatedly focus on stressful thoughts.
  • Burning at least 350 calories three times a week can reduce symptoms of depression as effectively as antidepressants.

In a story for Sports Illustrated, Brendon said he’s now in the best shape of his life. “I have run my fastest mile and fastest three-mile times,” he said—“at the age of 39.” He even went on to operate multiple Orangetheory studios in California. “The OTF team is similar to a football team—we’re always improving on a constant basis and I’m going to do everything I can to be my best and make my team better.”
